About
Ed is a unique combination of prolific artist, designer, serial entrepreneur, environmentalist and marketing strategist with over 300 individual pieces created since 2011; with premier appearances at the MAH (Museum of Art and History), and the prestigious Palo Alto and River Art Festivals. He has major works permanently displayed at Cruzio, Next Space, Power 2 Sustain, and in private collections throughout the United States.
Ed’s career as an artist began in earnest in January of 2011 with the creation of the overwhelmingly popular 3 story tall metal sculpture titled ‘Forage Species’ at the MAH (Museum of Art and History – downtown Santa Cruz). ‘Forage Species’ became one of the most viewed and popular single works to appear in recent memory depicting an entire school of Pacific Sardines.
His work is built around environmental themes that seek to draw attention to critical environmental issues related to changing climate and its impact on ‘indicator and migratory species’ such as the butterfly, Pacific Anchovy, Sardine, and Sooty Shearwaters. He has also produced series of large scale wall mounted relief sculptures depicting marine animals, native to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, including pelicans, Sooty Shearwaters, Leatherback Turtles, Dolphins and Porpoises.
Most recently Ed has launched a series of historic and classical home portraits in hammered steel as a novel way to frame noteworthy architecture in a nontraditional medium – As it evolves, the series will be called ‘More than just a picture’. Ed’s work is available exclusively by commission “please disturb the artist”.
